I have struggled with church attendance for as long as I can remember. Joining a ministry kept me tethered for a while, but the struggle remains. Church service feels like going through the motions. However, someone pointed out to me that if my relationship with God were to be enriched, church attendance wouldn't be a problem. And so I've decided to be intentional about that, to deepen my personal relationship with God. It hasn't been easy, but it is possible. Inasmuch as the church has a role to play in guiding man to God, it is man's relationship with God that keeps him planted.
